Public Servants; Not Royalty

Today the U.S. Senate takes up a piece of the Health Care take-over. The issue is whether or not to create a public option within that take-over. Volumes have been written on this subject, and anything I might opine would be redundant. The facts are what they are.

There's a issue that's just as important, if not more important than this shift towards socialism: it's the issue of Representative Government. As of this writing, pollster Scott Rasmussen finds that fifty-six percent (56%) of Americans don't want this health care take-over, while only forty-one percent (41%) are in favor. That leaves three percent not knowing what they do and don't want. This is a clear majority of Americans against the legislation as a whole.

This brings me to my point: "Legislators aren't elected, and sent to Washington, to make deals and enhance their futures on the backs of the voters who invest their trust in them. They are sent there to REPRESENT THE CITIZENS BACK HOME!"

The time has come for the elected to understand that they are public servants; not royalty.

When you have Legislators complaining that constituents want them to actually READ a bill before voting on it. When you have Representatives more concerned about their party's whip, or leadership, (or anything else beside representing the folks back home). When you have them avoiding their constituents because their loyalty is awarded to pols and check-writers instead those constituents: then it's time to bring them home. They've obviously been bastardized.

I'm reminded of Congressman Sam Farr of California. Who called his constituents unsympathetic to others, then refused to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance, of all things.

Or Congressman Pete Stark (D) also of California who told a constituent that he "wasn't worth the urine" to "p" (iss) on his leg". And this man has the temerity to comment on Joe Wilson's getility.

Another would be Cathy Castor of Tampa Florida. This representative determined that pro-legislation constituents should be allowed in her Town-hall meeting: then changed it to they should have the majority of seats in the meeting. On top of that, she incorporated union thugs into her meeting to intimidate those who disagreed with her capitulation to the party leaders. It was at this meeting that we have video of union thugs assaulting a black man and calling him the most despised word in the English language (I wonder why Democrat-lead Tampa hasn't arrested this thug, and why the union isn't under investigation. Actually, I don't; I'm confident of the answer). We had an American version of Crystal Night in Ybor City.

Next there's Brian Baird (D) of Washington State who says those who disagree with the health care take-over are like the Nazi Brown Shirts. This was a group who intimidated citizens during Germany's tumultuous post Great War era. I would recommend Baird watch the video of Cathy Castors' town-hall meeting. The union thugs, wearing t-shirts have replaced those brown uniforms of the 1930's. This is as close to "Brown-shirt activities" I can find. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Bill Nelson, and Corrine Brown; all examples of those whom my grandfather would proclaim have "gotten too big for their britches". Party slugs all.

These people need to understand that Americans will not sit back and be ignored. November always comes around. This time we aren't going to watch their commercials, listen to their spin, accept their apologies, or vote them back into their elitists positions.

Either represent us, or find another job.
